Transgender woman brutally attacked in New York City
Quote:
The NYPD has released new video showing suspects in a vicious attack that left a transgender woman who is now fighting for her life.
The woman, walking with her gay, male friend on Bushwick Avenue was confronted and attacked by four men.
They punched and kicked the victim, 28, then one suspect threw a Plexiglas board at her, striking the victim in the head. The suspects also made anti-gay statements, police said. The victim was taken to Elmhurst hospital, where she remains in critical condition. There have been no arrests.
The first suspect is described as a male black, last seen wearing a gray sleeveless sweatshirt with the word "Freedom" on it, along with a dark long sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants, white sneakers and ski cap. The second suspect is described as a male black with close-cut hair, last seen wearing a blue Nike hooded sweatshirt with blue sweatpants.
The victim did suffer a traumatic brain injury. She underwent surgery and had to have a portion of her skull removed to allow her brain to swell without causing further damage.

Bushwick is a disgusting place to live. Brooklyn in general has just gotten worse. I hope she recovers and is able to live life normally.
Shock that they left the Gay friend alone. He probably was away from her at that point.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Thank you.
For someone who fights discrimination to attack someone else who also fights discrimination is so ridiculous.

No way. Brooklyn has improved drastically! Two decades ago the only nice places in Brooklyn were like southern Brooklyn with all the homes. Downtown Brooklyn, Coney Island and East New York were awful. I still won't go to East NY, but now downtown is like a different place altogether. Fort Greene is nice now. Gentrification completely changed northern Brooklyn [Williamsburg, Greenpoint] and now scary places like Flatbush and East NY are becoming nicer too.

Downtown Brooklyn is now just a mock Manhattan and hasn't improved anything other than wealth. Same goes for Williamsburg, Greenpoint. Gorl did you really use the term "scary places?" Flatbush and East NY are just as dangerous and don't even get me started on Coney Island. Other than the mess of restaurant chains they opened the entire neighborhood is awful. Every other day I seen somebody on the news getting shot. smfh

Downtown Brooklyn used to be so scary and so was Coney Island. Once it hit 4 or 5 PM, my mom used to get in the car and drive us home ASAP. We only went there if we needed to go to the mall anyway. Same with Fort Greene, Williamsburg, etc. We wouldn't even go there because there wasn't anything there. Now I can walk in all these places at 8 PM and not be scared.
I know that Flatbush and East NY are still dangerous, but there's some improvement, especially in surrounding areas. Ditmas Park was awful before, but now it's tolerable.

Disgusting, it baffles me how people still think its acceptable to hate on and treat LGBT people like we are garbage when the most of us, especially transgender woman of color have to go through hell. A casual walk on the street can turn into a fight for their lives for some.

You are so right. I live in NYC and Brooklyn is changing and some of those neighborhoods you mention are much safer than they were say, 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago. Downtown Brooklyn is under construction zone right now.

This is so heartbreaking. As someone who's transitioning in a few months, I am a bit scared

Less than one half of blacks support gay marriage, the lowest of any race. They want to empower themselves and pay everyone else DUST.
