Amanda Bynes To Be Involuntarily Commited For A Year
Amanda Bynes is headed for another conservatorship, but we're told it almost certainly will not be at the hands of her parents. Rather, we've learned Amanda's doctors are planning to get the type of conservatorship that can keep her confined and medicated for up to 1 year.
Sources familiar with Amanda's treatment tell TMZ ... the plan is to get an LPS Hold -- something a judge will grant at the behest of doctors but only if the patient is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism."
The LPS Hold allows doctors to confine Amanda -- at either the hospital or another secure facility -- and administer meds against her will.
The LPS Hold is far more stringent than what her parents could get. The parents could not legally force meds on Amanda nor could they effectively restrain her. We're told Amanda literally hates her parents now after they tricked her into coming to the mental hospital.
Our sources say the doctors will likely ask a judge for a new LPS Hold within a week ... after Amanda is fully diagnosed.

damn I didn't see that coming and ... they can't force someone under a cons to take meds Then how did they get her to do it the first time she was under one.

A shame but a necessity it seems. Wish her the best.

Exactly how is she "sick" enough to warrant this type of treatment, of this magnitude? all she did wear wigs n ****, call people ugly on twitter n ****, and act slightly kooky. I don't think anything's actually wrong with this girl, she's just zany.

Actually really sad. With this and the Kesha news, this has been a really sad day for Hollywood starlets.
Get better Amanda!

she doesn't need her parents and meds either. as i can see she doesn't even like her parents, why would staying with them be good for her? all she needs is ONE friend who will always be there for her, and she will get better, if she really has problems. imo.

I don't think you understand she's mentally ill.
That's all the media said she's done so that's all we know. You don't know what's happened behind all the mass media coverage. The media's covered this cause at the beginning it was funny but then it was clear she suffers from a mental health problem.
We only see the tip of a huge iceberg.
Hope she gets better! She needs this.

If I told you she used store bought figs to prepare a party appetizer, as opposed to planting, cultivating and harvesting from a fig tree in her own yard, would you agree with me that she should probably be locked away for life, Ina?

You've never dealt with anyone suffering from a sever mental illness or even studied it, if you honestly believe that.

I'm not trying to be rude but you are so, so misinformed and uneducated when it comes to this that it's a bit insulting for you to even offer a single thought about it. You just displayed you have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about, whatsoever. You think that "one good friend" is enough to cure Schizophrenia? Please, please stop posting here or treating this like some kind of joke because it's not.

I want her to get better, but I am a little bit suspicious of involuntary treatment for a YEAR. However, we don't know many details so it's impossible to judge.

If she's going to get ACTUAL help through this, like constant therapy and sorting through her issues, then I guess that's okay, but being forced to take medication for a year in an institution sounds awful...

This is really sad.
It's obvious she is definitely gravely disabled, though... it's just really too bad.

You sound naive. And the problem with your opinion is you really dont know her. Let the experts do their job. Let her family, who unlike you actually know her VERY WELL, do their job. They all want whats best for her in the long run. Do you think they want to be waiting for that phone to ring and hear thats she's been found dead in New York? They want her happy and well.
