I disagree that legalizing polygamy / marriage between blood relatives follows from legalizing gay marriage. That would be like saying since cabbage is a vegetable, then kale is a vegetable too. Cabbage and kale, while they both have leaves, are completely different things and should be considered separately when considering categorization.

That being said, I thing that polygamy and marriage between blood relatives should be legal, since it involves consenting adults.

Marriage between people and animals is a tricky issue.

I actually see no problem with Polygamy, as long as it fits the following basis:

1. Everyone in the relationship is mentally healthy enough to make decisions for themselves (what makes animal + human, and marrying minors wrong)
2. Everyone in the relationship knows there will be more than just 2 people in the relationship, and they consent to it
3. There's no possibility for any potential babies born through the relationship to have preventable birth defects (what makes heterosexual incest wrong)

If it meets those conditions, I do not see why polygamy is wrong (unless you want to bring religion/personal morals into it - that's for another thread)

I'd go into why I do not see homosexual incest (or any incest that does not bring children into the world) as wrong, but I'm sure I'm already going to have a lot of people confused by me supporting polygamy.

I agree with you expect for #3. It's such a vague and hard-fast rule for something that can't be ensured. So are we going to implement laws that prevent older women from having babies with their non-incestuous, non-polygamist partner? If they're 45-50, the chance of having a kid with Down's syndrome can be extraordinarily high (10%)

1. Marriages between blood relatives has already existed in North American/Eurocentric society and has mostly been stifled; gay marriage won't revive this.

2. Polygamy doesn't have enough support. Many religions that support it have discontinued it, and there are no relevant polygamy activist groups.

3. Zoophilia is considered a psychological disorder, unlike homosexuality which has not been seen as a disorder since the 1980s.
