Fla. woman fights with vacuum to fend off attacker

Pasco County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who forced himself into the Zephyrhills home of an 80-year-old woman on Friday and attempted to sexually assault her, then ran away after she fought back.
The man, described as being in his late teens or early 20s, entered the woman’s home on 23rd Street before 3 p.m. Friday. Once he entered the home, he confronted her, shoved her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her, said Eddie Daniels, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The woman grabbed a part of a vacuum cleaner that was nearby and struck the suspect with it, Daniels said. The suspect then grabbed the entire vacuum cleaner and ran from the scene, Daniels said.
If anyone finds the missing vacuum, they need to contact the sheriff’s office, Nocco said.
“If anyone finds that missing vacuum cleaner, don’t touch it,” he said. “Call us up via cell phone and we’ll be right on it because that is part of our evidence.”
