Oprah flat-out told her that she was going to get flack for her comments. Let's not act oblivious.

I saw this coming from the moment she made that comment during the interview. I'm not sure this clears it up though.

I love her to death, always have, and I get what she was trying to say. But from a PR standpoint, this is messy.

She sounded so smart for a minute and a half. And then she pulled out the "I'm not African American card" hunny your skin is dark and your ancestors came from there, no need to negate it

What is there exactly to drag? By saying "I'm not African-American" does not mean "I'm not Black". She is just saying she identifies her self as only an American which is not bounded by a race.
