'Anyone who wears a Burqa supports terrorism'
'Anyone who wears a Burqa supports terrorism'
There are calls to ban the Burqa in Australia at the moment which has called commentators from both sides of politics to weigh in on the debate. Most recently are politician Pauline Hanson and the wife of former NSW politician, Lisa Oldfield. Lisa boldly claimed that a burqa is a garment of terrorism and added anyone who wears it supports ISIS.

Pauline went on to say
Quote:
I’M offended by the burqa, and opposed to even the niqab.
People wearing full face coverings, including women, are known to have hidden bombs underneath them which they’ve detonated in acts of terror, in various places around the world such as Chechnya.
It happens. And the fact is, Muslim garments create fear.
I know not every Muslim is a terrorist but, to the best of my knowledge; every terrorist attack has been by Muslims.
Jacqui Lambie has made some good points and I’m grateful to her for raising these issues because they’re on the minds of a lot of Australians.

I know this is awful, but I read two articles recently.
The first one, was a lady sitting on the bus here in the UK singing the Peppa Pig theme tune (a cartoon for kids involving several pigs) to her child and was kicked off the bus because according to some, this was racist.
Another happened in my home town and there is a large fair ground at the moment. It was selling again Peppa Pig teddy bears and according to this article, they police had to remove them due to them getting complaints from a lot of Muslims.
In my eyes, it comes from both parties. We, need to accept not every Muslim etc is the same, and they need to realise that they have to have a calm approach about things in more forward countries.
Without trying to sound mean? Just got back from work so may have worded it wrong as I'm tied.

No I agree with you, both sides have to step up and work together. Australia isn't a Muslim country therefore we aren't required to follow their customs and traditions or change our way of life to suit certain beliefs. Recently the laws were change in QLD to allow men who wear turbans the right to ride a bike without a helmet. Now if i was to go riding without a helmet and was caught, I'd be fined. The law should apply to everyone, not just the majority. Over the weekend a couple was told to remove their Australian flag due to the current racial tensions in the community at the moment. Like **** off, this is AUSTRALIA and it was an AUSTRALIAN flag. If that offends you then leave

Really?
Respect for all cultures and religions is cool, but let's try to draw a line in the sand SOMEWHERE. Who the hell asks for an Australian flag to be removed IN Australia? Nonsense.

Right? It's disgraceful that our own country's flag was taken down because some minorities in the community take offence. PC madness

A mess. I wonder when Conservatives will realize that if we treated Muslims like everyone else and gave them their religious freedom that they wouldn't be fighting us so hard for it. Of course, I'm totally against Sharia Law and any government laws that would force a religion on people, but I can totally understand why Muslims would be constantly upset with these governments after all this ignorance.

The ignorance and intolerance comes from both sides tho. You can't move to another country and expect them to fall in line with your religious beliefs. People can believe and practice whatever they want, but when it starts impacting on my way of life, then it crosses the line

Sikhs wear turbans, Muslims typically don't.
And Australians really can't be mad at someone imposing their culture on them when they did exactly that to the aboriginals!

Let's not. The British invasion in the late 1700's is not compareable to Muslims imposing their culture on our way of life today
