Someone told me about this phone recently. It's as good as a Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, HTC M8, LG G3 but at half the price.

How will OnePlus make money?

A lot of media have previously asked us how we can sell such a high quality product at such a reasonable price, and we have told them that we can save money by doing the following three things:

Dramatically cut down on marketing spend: Instead of expensive offline campaigns, try and do more online marketing and have our fans help us spread the word.

Eliminate retail channel costs: While marketing is expensive, retail is even more so. I'd estimate that retail channels can cost anywhere from 20% to 40% of the final price of a flagship device from an established brand.

Not plan to make any money for two years: We are fine with not making any money on our smartphones for two years, to give more people the chance to experience the quality of our devices, and help uss build a name.

People are also selling invite on Ebay for $5-10.

And the most unavailable too.

It's almost impossible to buy.

That was last month.

Now, it is VERY EASY to get an invite. Took me only a few minutes to get one. There is also ebay where you can buy an invite for $5.

And getting an invite will get even easier in the coming days. OnePlus is giving away 200,000+ invites in September.


And pre-order is coming up in October.

They'll still make a profit though.
I mean, the production costs for the iPhone 6 is about $200 anyway and that's an Apple product.
The only costly things about these android phones are the screens and the Qualcomm processors.

Same with iphone. The screen and the processor are the biggest costs.

Flagship iphone and flagship Android parts cost about the same.





Though there are other costs involved like labor, warehouse, factory, shipment, warranty, overhead etc...

Apple and Samsung could sell their flagship at $300. But why sell them for $300 when you can sell it for $650?

I had 2, sold one unopened and the other one I sold to my roommate after I played aroud with it for about a week.

That phone is a beast. Plus it has a special ROM stock Android os. So many cool features without rooting the phone.

The only downside for me is the ppi.. It's like 400 something.. While LG n other top brands are mid 500 ppi.

but then again, iphone 6 has a 326ppi (720p)

Lol, sis 400 ppi is among the highest on the market, keep in mind that we're talking about smartphone screens, most reviewers said that they couldn't even notice the difference between LG's Quad HD screen and the rest.


But they did get slayed by the Note 4's Quad HD Super Amoled display, but that one is on another level

They need to release this in poor part of europe if they want serious profit.

I love this phone! Those Android manufacturers charging $600+ off contract... it's just ripping off customers. It's getting a lot of hype so hopefully carriers will pick it up

Reddit is in love with this phone. It seems pretty great but I'm still waiting for some more announcements before I decide on my next phone.
