"Charts" needs an overhaul, let's talk about it!
Hello, kids. There's important business to discuss.
Remember when we got rid of those endless "official threads" in the Music News area? Part of the reason was because those giant threads slow down the server. They add to our many server problems.
So, the next target? CHARTS.
Those big 4 threads (Mediabase, Billboard Hot 100, HITS/SoundScan, and iTunes) are out of control. It's nearly impossible to make any sense out of them anymore. Guests slam those big 4 threads all day and night, loading dozens of pages looking for the weekly chart, and then everything takes forever just to load.
I think we should move to weekly chart threads. New charts come out once a week. At this time, somebody (whoever's the first to find it) would post the new chart, and the thread from the previous week would be closed.
What do you think about that? Is there a better way to do it?
Now, what about the perpetual links to the Mediabase radio charts? I want to keep all those helpful links in one sticky thread. But I also want more links. We should be linking out to all the places that provide our content.

Yeah i agree, Mediabase and Itunes big threads would need to stay, but i guess having weekly Hot 100 and Album sales threads would work.

I like the weekly threads --- BUT this might be better:
1. A Thread for just the charts posted, no discussion
2. A Thread for discussions of the charts, where CiCi and GaGas can eff around.

ehhh, thats would be stupid because then the actual chart thread would just sink to the bottom of the page or to the next while the discussion will most likely have the chart posted in it and people discussing it.......1 thread is fine, if you wanna look at the chart look at the 1st page.

Weekly Threads, please.
And 1 or 2 new mods, if necessary

I think we could have weekly itunes and mediabase threads because it's not like you go back 10 pages to a post 2 weeks ago to quote it and reply. Oooh we could have a new itunes thread open each monday (since that's when Billboard starts tracking the digital sales data ) and a new mediabase thread whenever the official Sunday chart is posted or whatever. Maybe
I say weekly charts for everything because it's no big deal and it helps the forum. It'll probably help keep things organized too. So if someone for some reason wants to see what was happening on iTunes during the week of April 5th, they could easily find it. I dunno

I can agree on the Hot 100 and Top 200 weekly chart, mostly it's like everyone copmment when an update comes....
Umm... iTunes and Mediabase, i agree with the most that iTunes and Mediabase are mostly daily updated so it would be a little complicated...
But I think when it comes to iTunes, it should be a weekly thread showing the lates chart update and new releases for the week and keep updating it...
Mediabase thread should stay

I honestly don't care about how the format is, just that the charts sections stays

Just something that can be easy. I like weekly, even though I never visit that section

A good source for bands such as Korn, Evanescence, Slipknot, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Tool, etc. — Blabbermouth
The best sources for every type of music are MTV News and Billboard.
Weekly charts sound good to me... maybe integrate the R&B/Hip Hop, Pop 100, and Modern Rock charts into the Hot 100 thread.

What we could do about Mediabase is make a thread for the links to the airplay charts that have always been there (and any other useful links) and lock the thread, but ALWAYS keep it stickied. We can use a separate thread every week to post and discuss the updates themselves.
My apologies, if this does not make sense. My brain hasn't been working too well lately.

It makes sense and that's what I understood from some of the proposals. Or maybe I suggested it in my mind. I dunno. Liechtenstein.

But mediabase and Itunes updates would be daily, so whats the point of a bunch of discussion threads when it could just be separated into weekly charts discussion threads...
anyways i agree that we should have weekly threads for Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200+Hits Daily Double, and the mediabase and Itunes threads remained "official" since those require links and are constantly updates everyday and making it into weekly threads and discussion threads would be complicated..

Agreed.. I think something similar could be done for the ITunes thread.....which is just a pain to even enter at this point.

I don't see what's so complicated about weekly itunes and mediabase threads. Just open a new one each week and close the previous one. Everyone's still gonna post the same way they did before
