The Black Eyed Peas' new single, "Boom Boom Pow" (will.i.am/Interscope), will make a big boom on next week's singles charts. Interscope is projecting the song, released on March 31, will sell over 400,000 downloads in its first week, enabling a debut high atop the Hot Digital Songs chart.
That sum will likely propel the single to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the act its first chart-topper.
The group has charted nine singles on the tally, including "Boom," but have only gone as high as No. 3 (with both "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "My Humps"). This week, "Boom" is at No. 39 on the Hot 100 based solely on its strong out-of-the-gate airplay.
Meanwhile, Keith Urban and Prince are both still in the hunt for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Industry prognosticators suggest Urban's "Defying Gravity" (Capitol Nashville) could sell between 170,000-180,000 while Prince's Target-exclusive "LotusFlow3r" (NPG) may shift in the range of 160,000-170,000.
Those projections have grown since Wednesday, April 1, when the Urban was forecast to move 150,000-160,000 while Prince was in the range of 140,000-150,000.
The new Billboard Hot 100 chart will be unveiled on Thursday, April 9, while the new Billboard 200 albums chart will hit Billboard.com on Wednesday, April 8.
********, the song is charting because Will.I.Am wrote & produced it. The song would of charted(and gone to #1) regardless of whether Fergei was on it or not.
anyway...im so happy for them, cant wait for the album.
LOL his solo career (nor Fergie's) will/has any effect on BEP's success.
Will.I.Am made the ****ing song, without him Black Eyed Peas woudlnt exist and Fergie would never of been signed.
