This area seem to get hit by natural disasters every year. I don't understand why people stay in the same area instead of relocating somewhere where it's less prone to natural disasters.
Mess I thought this would be in the Philippines and I was right.
& at your second statement, it isn't that easy. I've been there and Manila i I think the most crowded city. Also it isn't as easy for them to just say hey lets pack up our things and move somewhere else.
Flooding is common in the Philippines but that particular incident is rare. The last time it happened was 5 years ago. That flood is equal to one month worth of rainfall dumped in one day. And the floodwaters recede usually in a day or two. Luckily, I live in an area where it never floods no matter how heavy the rainfall is.
Didn't they get hit by that 200 mph typhoon last year? The strongest typhoon to make landfall?
Yes, 'twas that btch Super Typhoon Haiyan (we call it Yolanda here) that struck and devastated the central Philippines almost a year ago (November 8) Most of us here in the Philippines are already immune to typhoons and floods because we're in the Pacific ring of Fire and it's El Niño here. Glad I'm from southern part of our country and we are Typhoon Free here, tho we suffer floods sometimes because of poor drainage system and when our major river here overflows.
We really are thankful to those countries who donate, help and give a helping hand to the victims of the super typhoon.
Thank you very much! Unidas!
