The term used to describe Chinese food served in the US is American Chinese cuisine, it's extremely different from the food eaten in China. It has been adjusted for a different palate and to embrace different ingredients and has developed into something unique. I thought it was snobby af when I first heard the term on Food Network but it extends to everything really and makes sense (American Italian cuisine, American Mexican, etc.)
