Kid Rock is getting stuck into his new album, which he hopes will be finished before the Summer and released in late 2009.
The rap-rocker is working in his Detroit studio laying down material for the follow-up to his 2007 record 'Rock N Roll Jesus' - his first number one album to date.
"I really feel like I've kind of got this figured out," he told Billboard. "I think I can make an equally good record, if not better than the last one - which is once again putting quite a weight on your shoulders. But I do like the pressure."
"Obviously I had a great year in 2008," Rock says, "maybe even better considering the times we're in. We're at a point where you do something and then it's forgotten, and I'll have to prove myself again, and that's just incredible."
"People need to be reminded sometimes, and sometimes being humble doesn't do that so well."
I remember he said he worked exceptionally hard on Rock N Roll Jesus and wanted to turn it into a classic album and I think he really delivered--there are only a handful of people these days that can manage 3x platinum albums.
I think Kid Rock is definitely talented and versatile shifting from rock to rap to country. I've never been a big enough fan to buy his album or even want to listen to any of them the whole way through. But I think that if he markets this album the same way he markets his last, where he does not have it on Itunes and forces people to actually buy it (and also has a great first single), then he will see similar success.
