10-Year Old Girl Saves Grandmother

A 10-year old girl was awarded for her bravery after she heroically saved the life of her elderly grandmother. Maddie Adams received the Roderick Award of Courage after performing the Heimlich maneuver on her grandmother, who could have died otherwise. The award included a check for $1,000 which Maddie plans to put in a fund for college. Maddie’s family says she’s a very energetic girl and is wonderful to be around. Ironically, Maddie learned the technique while watching Disney’s "The Suite Life of Zach and Cody” that very day. “I was really glad that I did it quickly and I could get her to breath," Maddie said.
