While I do not believe in violence by any means, and I do sympathize with all victims of domestic abuse, it has been a recurring theme to bash the man in every situation. Rightfully, he is blamed when he hits a woman but when the reverse is the case, he is a wuss or even worse (in Jay Z's case) is the obvious cause as apparently, a woman would never hit a guy without him being wrong.

Put this way, a man hits a woman, he's an animal. Women hit men everyday, in the car, on the street but we just have to brush it off, we're men, it's just a relationship squabble. The other day, the Nigerian girls I follow on Twitter were talking about how any man who "claimed" to be raped "wasn't a real man". ?????

In 2014, we thought we were getting somewhere with females wanting equal social rights as men. Why are women still given a pass to be completely illogical in most situations and why are men supposed to be the logical ones who still get [metaphorically] beat up?

Women have been the most abused "minority" group by FAR. However, the truth is women want special impunity to be able to beat up on men but men can't respond or do anything.

If a situation gets so heated that a woman cant control her emotions and hits a man, why would a man have to be more than human and not also respond in kind when a women hits a him. I guess my question is why do people expect better behavior out of a man than they would expect out of a woman when in the same situation.

Many would say because men are physically stronger. While this may be true, this doesn't justify the behavior and the reaction from the media and the public because you will never get around one individual being stronger than another individual for whatever the reason may be.

I also disagree that women shouldn't be held to the same standards as a man and I agree they should be treated as full equals under the law and in the eyes of the media and the public. The truth is many women want to have their cake and eat it too. Even when a woman is clearly in the wrong they are considered to be in the right. Just look at the other thread where the woman maced a man because she was being rude and holding up the line at the store.

Pretty much everything you said. I can't even highlight anything because you hit the nail on the head with "...why do people expect better behavior out of a man than they would expect out of a woman when in the same situation" and "...women want to have their cake and eat it too". The other day I saw a video of two ladies beating up some guy, they had belts and bottles. The comments were all about calling the guy a pig and saying that he was probably playing both women.

Most people fail to recognise a moral issue until it is pointed out to them. People generally just don't even engage that part of the brain that questions whether something is right or wrong unless someone tells them they should.

A woman getting beat up by a man is a victim's story we've all heard many times before, with many high profile examples, so everyone knows that a great wrong is being committed when a woman is hit.

The man getting beat up though? I can't think of an instance where a heavily bruised male celeb was splashed across newspapers the way Rihanna was. Trans bashing isn't seen by most people in nearly the same gravity as gay bashing simply because there haven't been the widely publicised deaths and suicides. The wide majority of people didn't even realise that racism was something to feel bad about until a shockingly late time in human development. And male rape stories are so under publicised that people are unaware of the atrocities that happen in the war zones of the world, and since they don't have a famous victim's face to slot into the mental scenario when it pops up in conversation, the empathetic/moral portion of the brain doesn't light up and so the person is free to say the first air-headed piece of **** that pops into their mind and slips past their lips before they have taken even one ****ing second to consider whether the dipshit word vomit spilling out of their mouth is ignorant, offensive and a terrible example of humanity's inability to empathize.

Agreed and it shouldn't be that way. It should be equally devastating to hear when a man hits a woman or a woman hitting a man.

People shouldn't feel more sorry for one gender. Violence is never the answer (except in self defense...which wouldn't be an option if offense never even takes place).

Everybody has the right to self defense. Everybody also has the right not to be harmed by others.
