Angelina and Brad, wedded to cynical self promotion
For anyone who has just landed from Mars, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married on August 23 in a secret and intimate ceremony.
So secret and intimate, in fact, that the happy couple have now flogged the pictures to Hello!
Had they so chosen, the event could have remained exactly what the couple claimed they wanted it to be — private. Yet that’s not the way these two operate. Not when there’s brand Brangelina to promote.
Instead, it now looks like a spectacularly cynical PR coup.
The resulting pictures looked more like a fashion shoot for The United Colors of Benetton. No surprises there, since the couple have carefully crafted their image for years to make them seem so much more global and giving and glamorous than you.
Rather, it’s that, as any normal parent knows, what children really need as well as love is stability, familiarity, friends and routine — none of which the Brangelina Bunch gets, as they traipse around the world in private jets, following in their famous parents’ slipstream, surrounded by six nannies and three permanent bodyguards.
Yet we are supposed to celebrate Angelina as the picture-perfect Earth mother!
