CNN: Brad-Angie married for promo
Why did Angie and Brad bother to get married?

Quote:
You might have heard: Brad and Angelina secretly tied the knot at last. A spokesperson for the couple announced that the pair wed privately in a nondenominational civil ceremony in France over the weekend.
The first question, of course: Why now? If you are a celebrity, marriage also does a pretty good job of, you guessed it, garnering press.
Brad and Angelina have never exactly shied away from using their relationship and their children as story hooks. It's hard not to wonder if the announcement of the marriage had anything to do with his upcoming film, "Fury," set for release in October, or hers, "Unbroken," which she directed, due out Christmas Day. Meanwhile, this summer the two began filming "By the Sea," their first film as co-stars since "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," the movie that sparked their romance. At the very least, the many, many reports on their marriage will surely mention these projects, as -- oh, look -- I've just gone and done.

Enlighten me, do you agree with CNN?
Did Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie marry for publicity?
I do find it interesting that Pitt and Jolie "married secretly," yet immediately sold their photos to
magazines a day or two later. This seems... let's say, counterintuitive. Weigh in with your opinions.

Doubt it. I can think of another recently married couple who did it for publicity though.

It was. I mean, they've been together so long that I had forgotten they weren't married tbh.

I mean, the fact that Brad and Angeline made a concerted effort to hide the circumstances of the ceremony proves that they want their privacy.
I bet very few people even know about this ****.
The absolute reach here.

Didn't they announce they would only ever get married if DOMA was ruled unconstitutional?

But why sell wedding photos to major magazines immediately after
having a "private ceremony"? Doesn't really make any sense.

I wonder if the writer of this article realises that if they did indeed do it for publicity, they're only assisting them..

This is true. I wonder what ever happened with that?
Guess Brad and Angelina kind of reneged, aye, since not everyone can get married yet.

As if the most famous celebrity couple in the world needs promo.
Utterly ridiculous.

The article itself is publicising the marriage. I don't need to read the article to understand that.

Just because Brad and Angelina are one of the most talked about couples in entertainment,
doesn't really translate into film sales. They both need promo like anyone else.

There needs to be some tact. One wouldn't want to make it that obvious.
