Lady Gaga was giving away free tickets all day to anyone that approached the ticket booth at the Allphones Arena today for her show tonight in Sydney, this was done due to her lack of ticket sales, for last nights show it was buy one ticket get one free but that still wasn't enough to fill the arena
She also does this in Germany - I got an unsolicited short message by my network provider asking me to "get one ticket for FREE if I buy one" - instantly deleted it

They aren't given away at the desk as this OP is saying. I'm sure if you searched the same thing while Katy, Rihanna, P!nk ect were there you would get the same results. Comps and promotions happen 24/7, even my friend got an offer to see Katy Perry for free from Vodaphone.
