In a recent article from the Wall Street Journal, it was revealed how Sony was marketing Fifth Harmony more as a brand prior to their proper debut album, and how such a business model will work better for the group's longevity and market power. Do you agree with this? What do you think of such a strategy for girl groups? Will this really help 5H in the long run?
Marketing them as a brand won't help them, they need to start releasing good music. They are very talented, but their talent is being wasted on bad songs.

This. They NEED stronger material if they really want to stand out and succeed.
I love them and I'm definitely addicted to them but their material really doesn't cater to that many groups of people. I really don't see my homeboys copping that new Reflection track. Just no. We Know is the most diverse track they have I think. DC & PCD had music that all kinds of people enjoyed. They need to take a page from their books
I think this is actually a pretty good marketing idea. By the time their debut album comes out their faces and brand will be all over the country/world.
This is probably what they're doing with Rita Ora as well.
So far they've sold their first million singles and EPs combined. Small numbers, but a very good start nevertheless considering they're only releasing their album this fall!
