I'm about to start my last year of high school at a new school next Tuesday. For the past 10 days or so, my new school has been having orientations and stuff and by now everyone has at least 1 friend, except for me. I literally have made new friends these past ten days.
Come to think of it, I've had very few friends throughout high school, and only 2 or 3 people have come to my house to hang or invited me somewhere.
I only have like 5 friends and I'm going into my senior year of high school also. I don't have a hard time making friends, I just realize they're are only few and far who will truly be your friend. I can't tell you how many people are gonna say on Tuesday "OMG I haven't heard from you all summer".
It is for me. I'm not really anti-social but I'm really shy so it takes me a long time to become comfortable talking to people I try to remember to just be myself, because if you be yourself around other people you will find out quickly who finds you tolerable and who actually likes your personality and wants to be friends with you.
My problem is that because I take so long to become comfortable people think that I don't want to talk to them so they give up on me
Hmmmm yes. Especially when everyone else already has their set group of friends and nobody wants to open it up to an outsider you know? But it's always hard for me cause I hate casual friends. If we're gonna be friends I'd like to be emotionally invested in it. Not many people want to reciprocate that so I don't try. I'm out of high school now so what's the point?
Yeah it truly can be. Whenever I'm at new schools it usually takes me like weeks to find a friend group. But tbh after I find one I usually end up with a lot of people who like me at least.
I feel you, when I was in school I barely made any friends and when I did I couldn't keep them longer then a couple months The best advice I can give you is just start talking to random people. Ask them anything, like about school or homework or classes or even the weather. You might feel stupid and you might get rejected sometimes, but that's life, we all get rejected sometimes. And you might even find someone who wants to be your friend as well and that'll make it all worth it. And once you make one friend, you can become friends with all their friends. As difficult as it is you just have to put yourself out there.
Haven't made any friends in my 3 years of college.
Am starting my sophomore year and I only have like 1 true friend (which is unfortunately studying abroad this semester) and 4 or so people who I talk to but weren't really friends. I have friends back in my hometown though.
