The developer of Tekken is working on a Pokémon Fighting Game (titled "Pokken" or "Pokken Tournament" and currently set ONLY for release in Japanese arcades, but likely to make its way to consoles at some point).

There were some leaked screenshots a while ago that may have been from the same game, but it's now confirmed. Here's a gameplay teaser of Machamp and Lucario engaged in a tense battle:

I wish they could incorporate this into the Pokemon RPG games! Imagine going through Pokemon X/Y, and every fight is something in this style. I would die of happiness!

Not a fan of the style and the way the fight is being carried. They should have went for something more like “Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm“.

I think part of the point is that it's a collaboration between the Pokémon and Tekken franchises. Because of that, it matches the Tekken style. It's similar to how Legend of Zelda and Samurai Warriors collaborated for "Hyrule Warriors."

We'll have to wait and see what it's like when it's actually out. 2015 isn't too far away, but we don't know when in 2015...

I also don't think they'd do a pokémon game without Pikachu. Lol. Who else do you expect to see?

I guess we'll find out. So far it only seems like humanoid pokémon who have arms and stand on two feet will be included.

I definitely see Charizard and Mewtwo being thrown in. I wish they collaborated with a more creative team than the one behind Tekken, though. Even the gameplay video shows an emphasis on basic kicks and punches.
