It's stupid and it just proves that they are in fact racist/homophobic because if they think saying they have _ type of friends automatically disqualifies them from being prejudiced they have another think coming. Like homophobia doesn't mean you have a literal fear of gay people and you are incapable of being around them. Racism doesn't mean you are incapable of being around minorities. It means you think they are beneath you and don't deserve equal rights. Seeing people pat themselves on the back because they "have a gay friend" or their "close friend is black" like that makes them some type of amazing wonderful person makes me go
