Just a plain rude article. Do we know the author?

Everybody's no angel, but the way they describe him is so wrong. They do the most trying to portray black men in the worst negative light.

So the potential for a lie is absolutely huge, yes.

I don't understand the outrage, unless some people are upset that they included some of his vices/negative behavior alongside the positive. It would be disingenuous to pretend that the convenience store incident never happened if they were doing a fluff piece about Brown's life. There were plenty of other topics covered in the article, like that quote about Mike being serious about graduating high school and how quick he was to adapt to his surroundings, and some of his interests. I thought it was a balanced piece.

We weren't there, but most of us have seen the video of him stealing, and physically assaulting the store owner, who was simply trying to make a living.

Surely that doesn't mean that he deserved to die the way that he did. But it would be biased NOT to make mention of his bullying past, considering the fact that this is an OPEN investigation.

There's a fine line here.

If police didn't shoot to kill there wouldn't be this mess. They need to learn to disable a suspect. If you take away the "kill to defend" mentality, I think that there would be less of this. Because if you did shoot and kill an unarmed black man, then it would be way more likely that it was racially motivated.

Still, there are way too many cases of black people being ******* on by authority and that needs to stop.

And honestly, the same biases keep black people from being credited for contributions. The story of this entire ugly American story

That's not really the point. The point is that if Brown were a white boy, his past troubles would not be brought up or they would be downplayed in order to make him seem like a "good kid who was unfairly shot". Since he was a black boy, his past is brought up in a way to imply that he deserved to die.

Oh, not to mention they bring up the "he was seen stealing on camera" despite the fact that the store owner has said nothing of the sort.

Too bad the store owner didn't file a police report, claims he doesn't know if it was Michael Brown or not, and all but said it was no big deal and nothing happened.

Even the Boston Bombers got a better write up than this.

you weren't there either and the media being predominantly white does not mean the article is false or imbalanced. and there is no debate about the truth here anyway...

these people are complaining because they mentioned his troubled past, but like another person mentioned, the whole article does mentions positives about his life too.

and the people complaining the boston bombers getting a better write up... that's because neither of them had a criminal past or a public record.
