There's no logical way for the water/food you are wasting to make their way to people who need it, unless you're going to personally donate it to a local shelter.
People waste water while brushing their teeth, showering, using a dishwasher, having a pool, etc.
There's always going to be a waste of something that people need, and if you end up concerning yourself too much over that, your life is going to be miserable.
I say try and minimize your waste, but don't feel guilty if you do, because it's almost impossible not to.

True. I sometimes feel guilty about wasting food and water, but then I think of what you said, and I realize that it's a silly thought. I wish there weren't people starving and dying of thirst out there, but me being conservative isn't going to save them. It takes a lot more than that.
