I love this but how does it recharge? It just does? Plus I'll wait for reviews and what not. I'd buy it if its good cause my phone is always dying even with a rechargeable case

Maybe most North Americans do but there are billions in the Caucasus, Africa, India, South-east Asia, etc, who cannot afford cell phones.

This would be handy on excursions and camping. Or hiking by yourself/with a friend and getting lost.

What's the point of hiking and camping if you're bringing all this technology? I thought the point of camping was to get away from the modern world!

I will never and have never gone camping without technology, neither would anyone else who valued their life. There are plenty of things that can go wrong or happen while out in the wilderness. What sense would it make to NOT have a cellphone and a portable charger on yourself if you are going to be somewhere remote and away from other people?

Of course, the point to go camping or go hiking is to get away from the rest of the world. But that doesn't mean you suddenly "get away" from your cellphone as well and forget to use common sense, just in case something happens to go wrong and you need help. Even a portable radio is better than having absolutely nothing.

I wonder what they did in the days before cell phones, oh the horror! It's just a camping trip, not Friday the 13th or The Edge.

But hey, it's your trip, bringing tech is up to you... personally I don't bring any devices apart from propane stove, pots, pans, hatchet, knives, shotgun... bears don't bug you if you secure your food properly.

This isn't even a fair comparison because there weren't cellphones then. They couldn't bring one even if they wanted, because they didn't exist....

They exist now and are a very important resource and tool. If they existed back then, I'm almost positive they would bring a cellphone while camping. And who said anything about Friday the 13th? Doing too much.

And I bring those things too, they are essentials, but I'm well aware there are more things to be worried about then just bears.
