Because she is an excellent and dynamic rapper. She raps like a man would, empowers (black) women and celebrates female sexuality with "Anaconda".

because it's a great song, amazing video and it's all from the Queen of Rap.

It's certainly not the best song or video and both are messy but there's something about it, it's catchy and went borderline viral(the cover at least which garnered attention) all of this results into people wanting to listen to it regardless of whether it's good or not.

Hopefully the vma performance has a stunt of two happen and she can easily go higher

So, Nicki references and extensively samples "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot, a male rapperthat praised and yet objectified voluptuous women with big butts. Now Nicki kind of turns the table on that objectification. She does what men always do, she raps like a male rapper would: She talks about the men she has slept with and objectifies their penises just like men objectify women’s butts or vaginas.

The video even reinforces that: She destroys a banana, a very obvious phallus symbol, and slaps Drake's hand away when he is about to touch her butt. That means Nicki always stays in control over her body and empowers her sexuality to the level of the sexuality of men.
