I know there are many teachers on ATRL, such as Waffles O' Brien, but is teaching respectable? I have no idea how Waffles O' Brien got his teaching job, but I know in most cases, you need to have an average understanding of your material, and need to go to college. But does the exact college matter? Unfortunately, in many countries, teachers aren't paid a lot, so people don't think it's a respectable job like becoming a lawyer, doctor, banker, etc. Also added to the fact it is often quite easy to get a teaching degree, as opposed to going to medical or law school. I'm sure Waffles O' Brien can enlighten us more on the process of become a teacher, and if it actually is difficult, contrary to common perceptions.

It's a very respectable job. We have bad teachers in the teaching field, but hey, every career has a few bad apples that need to be weeded out. Honestly, they deserve to get paid MUCH more than what they get for dealing with some of these children.

I respect everyone and all their career choices, especially if they worked their butts off to make sure it happened. I salute.

If you're good at it it's EXTREMELY respectable. Teaching is not an easy job at all, no matter what some people might think. Teachers play such a big role on young peoples lives, it's so important.

Somewhat. It's not that hard to get into which is why a lot of people do it, but they are underpaid and in most instances the job requires a lot of patience.
