The gist of the story is that some producers on Toni's new album The Pulse backstabbed Toni by offering 3 of Toni's best tracks to Alexandra, which may end up delaying the release of Toni's album.

I can see this being true to be honest. Alexandra and Toni have a similar vocal quality, but right now, Alexandra is the "hot" younger model, while Toni might be percieved to have her best days behind her (commercially speaking). I can totally imagine those greedy producers looking at the UK sales for Alexandra's version of "Hallelujah" and thinking "KER-CHING!!!"

It sounds believable. Toni has the worst luck in the world.

Just why?

Yeah they have roughly the same tonality.

But...

Didn't Toni have a beef with Beyonce and Jay-Z a few years ago for basically "stealing" a song that was supposed to be on her album. I think Toni had a song that sampled a Tupac song, and Jay-Z heard it and used the same sample (with Beyonce) to make "Bonnie And Clyde".

Toni said "Bonnie And Clyde" was basically the same song she did, and that she felt cheated. She thinks her song was leaked to Jay-Z by the president of Def Jam, Kevin Liles.

She doesn't really have the best luck in these situations.

^ LMFAO. That's news to me. Terrible. Yes, "Bonnie and Clyde" sampled 2Pac's "Me and My Girlfriend". I bet Beyonce/Mathew heard Toni recording it at BMG's studios and leaked it to Jay-Z. That's their style.

I know Beyonce is generally regarded as a ruthless thief and credit stealer. But this time, I don't think she was responsible for the leak, though even if she knew it came from Braxton first, she still would have taken it. I think Jay-Z was the guy who decided to steal it first. But Beyonce went along with it, so she's just as guilty.

Here's an article from Entertainment Weekly (in 2002) that covers the whole sorry affair. Toni says that "Jay-Z and Beyonce are messing with my money...I have kids to feed and this is taking money out of their college funds"

If this story about Alexandra getting her tracks is true, Toni is going to carry a grudge. Though it's not really Alexandra's fault if the producers see Alex as a better investment for their tracks.

I feel so bad for her... Didn't LA Reid ruin Libra? She has such a beautiful voice and really doesn't deserve to be treated in this way. Toni FTW

Lmao, please. In the eyes of the record executives and producers, Alexandra is a new, fresh opportunity who's doing well so far, and seeing Leona's career only gives her more of a chance. Toni? She's past her prime to them.

YES, I been saying for the longest that Alexandra is the new Toni Braxton. I was really wanting her to have that style but more contemporary. Oh well, touch cookie! I love Toni but she would only mumble the lyrics anyways. Alexandra is gonna have a hot album.

More Than A Woman is Toni's worst album.... I don't know WTF she was thinking recording most of that mess. Hit The Freeway & Lies FTW though... LOL
