It was a weird transition. The high school wasn't built at the time, so our middle school turned from a 6th-8th grade school to a 6th-9th grade school for one single year. So we were in 9th grade, but we were also the top class. Then the subsequent years (10th, 11th, and 12th) we were always the top class since they didn't bring in students higher than our class (I graduated class of 2009). So never got the treatment of being an underclassman.
As far as the school setting, we were differentiated from the standard teal/white (and teal/black) (6th grade), navy blue/gold (7th grade), and black/gold (8th grade) color by being black and white colors for our uniform. It was an absolute mess juggling four grades when the school was only built for three.
Not to mention now the whole school system now in the area is shuffled beyond belief, it doesn't even resemble what it used to be over 5 years ago.
Yeah, it was the most boring day of my life. The principal had each class go over the handbook. So I had 7 hours of listening to teachers talk about the handbook All my classes sucked as well.
I remember we were all waiting for them to have the class schedules to hand out about 30 minutes before school started, and my back was to the office and my friend saw them coming out with all the papers to hand out she pointed at them really quick and she ended up poking me in the eye really hard and scratched my cornea so my first day of high school I had to wear an eye patch
