NEW YORK – Ariana Grande is the new princess of pop, topping the charts with her addictive single "Problem," impressing critics with her thick, gliding vocal range and maintaining an image that her young Nickelodeon fans can vibe with, signature ponytail and all.
"If 'TRL' was around today, Ariana would be a fixture in the same way Britney (Spears) was when Britney was of the moment," said Doyle, who said the network had been thinking of ways to bring back "TRL," but hadn't come up with the right idea until they thought of Grande. "She was absolutely the perfect artist to do that because her fans are active and she's very social."
What an odd comparison. Ariana is more like a modern day vocalist such as Mariah. Nothing like Britney in any way. People really forget how huge Britney was. Britney had almost instant success with BOMT. Ariana is taking a bit but overall if Ariana plays her cards right she will have a long career like Britney while also having the respect of the industry in her pocket.
She's nowhere near Britney's debut. If she was, she'd be imitated in every cartoon, be on every interview TV show, have hit number one with record breaking numbers during her first era, and been one of the most talked about celebrities out there.
