Instead of this being a music forum where those passionate about music can congregate with others with similar interests and discuss past, present and future releases, ATRL is primarily a forum where members attempt to get hit threads, chase cheap drags, attempt to bring down other artists - at any cost - all of the time, and throw personal and indirect insults at members that they don't even know.
Is this general mentality terrible? Does anyone else find this immature, child-like and disappointing? Does anyone feel like it ruins the atmosphere of the forum? Does anyone want it to change? Or does everyone like it, so that they can feel a sense of approval when someone quotes their post with a "DRAG HA! ", feel satisfaction and seek entertainment by seeing a pop star insulted, or just generally have a need to say things that would never be said in real life just because it's easier to "express yourself" online?
I'm genuinely interested to see how many people honestly enjoy ATRL this way.
I don't really get it either. I find it comes with pop music in general.. a lot of it is okay if it is kept to SYG or even bases but sometimes it's just like.. why lol.. you know? I don't really notice this sort of behavior with more indie based music or rock stans.
With the people who take it too seriously, yes. But some people really just drag or "throw shade" for fun and then move on with their day and it's no big deal. But I also think the mentality of the OP is "terrible" too. It's not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. No real damage is being done.

Yeah, so what? The people with that mentality give me life everyday, right now I'm going through all the pages of the latest Gaga vs Katy thread. Go ATRL.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who thinks this. Although it can be entertaining to watch, when you take a step back and look at the situation, you realise that the stan mentality is very unhealthy and quite sad at its extent. Living vicariously through the pop girls and spending your day "dragging" artists for a quick laugh... it's trivial.
