Why is Alicia more respected than Beyonce?
Is Alicia Keys more respected than Beyonce by the music industry and general public?
I've come to this conclusion because Beyonce receives a lot of criticism for being to sexual, and many people also believe she lip-syncs.
Alicia, meanwhile, is often regarded as an R&B legend with a great singing voice, song-writing talent, and piano virtuosity. She is never criticized for being sexual, but has been criticized for a haircut.
Both have won about the same number of Grammy's, but does Alicia Keys also have more industry respect? When John Mayer won the Grammy for Song of the Year with "Daughters," he cut the award in half and gave one half to Alicia Keys, as he felt "If I Ain't Got You" deserved the accolade. Also, Alicia Keys' "MTV Unplugged" set was the first to debut at No. 1 on the Billlboard 200 since Nirvana, showing people's respect for her singing ability.
A comparison of their most memorable hits: "Fallin'", "If I Ain't Got You," "No One," "Empire State of Mind" (and urban classics "Unthinkable" "Like You'll Never See Me Again" "Diary" "A Woman's Worth") vs. Beyonce (excluding Destiny's Child): "Crazy In Love," "Irreplaceable," "Single Ladies," "Halo." Which songs give more respect to their respective singers?
Also who is more global, in big markets such as Japan, Germany, UK, France?
Who wins? Almost equal Grammy awards/nominations, different images, different songs...who is more respected?

Beyoncé gets more praise and more hate.
Most people think she is larger than life and some people hate the fact that the majority thinks like that.
That being said, Alicia doesn't get hate and almost everyone think she's talented.

Alicia is more respected by the GP, if that's what you're asking.

They both are two of the most respected R&B artist of their generation, but Alicia has received criticism especially from the urban community because of her "home wrecking" scandal and declining live vocals.

That is true. Beyonce arguable had the easier start given her Destiny's Child fame. Alicia had to start from the bottom, playing the piano in Hell's Kitchen.

Well Alicia doesn't lip-sync, so of course they would decline

Patti Labelle doesn't lipsync and her voice is almost unchanged. Bey sings mostly live and her voice has only gotten better. Alicia's just a terrible technical singer.

Alicia is respected because she's a musician and vocalist first. Beyonce is respected for her voice, career journey and live performances.
Both are respected in their respective fields.
