California Gurls, officially the Song of the Summer, was busy at work with parties, cookouts, and the like during the summer of 2010. Little did we know that Katheryn would provide us with a summer 1-2 punch.
On July 22rd, 2010, ahead of its official release, KIIS-FM were the first ones to play what would become one of Perry's signature hits. The response was overwhelmingly positive:

Nonetheless, Teenage Dream, the title track, went on to become Perry's third US #1 hit, and it spent two weeks at the summit. Overall, the tune lasted over eight months (33 weeks) on the chart. As of August 2013, it was her 6th biggest hit in the States.
When I heard this song for the first time I decided that I definitely needed to preorder the accompanying album as soon as it was available.
