I know what you're thinking. "What the hell is The Chosen One, and why am I supposed to care?" Or, if you were around when it was alive two years ago, "Why am I supposed to care about it coming back?" Well, to the second question, honestly, I don't know. *shrugs*
But, to the first question, The Chosen One was my way of filling the void that Kworb's Song Contest had left when Kworb stopped doing them. Of course, he's done some song contests recently, but I still think The Chosen One differs enough from KSC to be worth something.
If you're looking for ground rules, let's start with the basics. For those of you who are uninitiated with The Chosen One, first of all, it was a survivor masquerading as an interactive game, though now, because of the way the Games forum is structured, there's no way I can officially say that this is BOTH a game and a survivor. Basically, round by round, one song is voted off per round until there is one song left, and that song is deemed "The Chosen One". One of the key differences between this game and the Song Contests is the use of only one song per user throughout the game, to prevent someone changing their choice, should their song be unpopular with the masses. You do have to post in this thread, stating that you are signing up, and you do have to send in three song choices, via PM, and only one will be chosen out of the three. In the past, there was a "Special Informant" who helped me determine which song to use. This time, it's just me. However, unlike in previous installments(or just "installment"), I will not be participating, so I cannot be biased with my choices.
Another key difference is that singles are not only allowed, they are mandatory. HOWEVER, unlike in the past, the single *cannot* be recent. By recent, I mean "pre-2008". The single had to have been released before January 1st, 2008. No exceptions. I would also stress not to pick songs that would, almost certainly, help you win. It's pointless, it's petty, it's stupid, and, to be honest, it's annoying. If I sense that you're picking songs just to win The Chosen One, I will ask you to choose again. I was thinking about banning certain artists from being in the game, but I figured that that would be pointless, so, instead, I will stress(not require) the idea of either choosing singles that weren't very popular or singles that were popular but were NOT by the extremely popular ATRL artists, such as Britney, Rihanna, Christina, Beyonce, etc.
In the past, I would have asked people to send me MP3s of their choices, if at all possible, but, with how easy it is to find songs nowadays, either through YouTube or iTunes or other means, it's not needed. However, if I happen to have trouble finding a song(which I doubt will happen, but bare with me here), I will contact you about it. And let me repeat this, just so everyone knows how important this is:
Sign up in this thread, and send your three song choices, with the artist and the title of the song, via PM. At the moment, there is no specific deadline for signing up, but, if some people are slacking with their song choices, I will set up a deadline for song choices.
If you still have questions about how The Chosen One is played, by all means, ask here. I am not as intimidating and mean as I may seem to some, and I am always open to answering questions, if you need help figuring out the game.
