Review from Heat magazine:
"No stranger to the industry, Dhipita released her debut album, ‘Rainbow’, several months ago. While that smashed records worldwide, this singer-songwriter is back with a stronger sound and vision that is sure to take her farther than she’d ever dream of.
Her latest EP, ‘BRAINWASHED’, is a darker direction than her previous efforts, It’s part hardcore rap, part R&B, part ballad. It’s got this ambient edge to it that’s completely refreshing in the pop world, especially when it comes to the main pop artists.
Executively produced by Dhipita, ‘BRAINWASHED’ kicks off with the highlight of the EP, ‘The Holy Hoe’ and bring you on a short journey of three more songs that each show a different side of Dhipitas artistry and voice. She’s in a league all her own with this EP."
Review from Time magazine:
"A distasteful stroll into the exotically morbid workings of my complicated psyche' - those are the words current tabloid magnet and pop culture chanteaus Dhipita Gormen used herself to describe her brand new EP Brainwashed.
After the light fluffiness of Gormens debut album Rainbow and its follow-up ep, pot of gold, one never really knew what to expect going into this 'expensively cheap' new cash grab from Sony music's biggest signing.
Lyrically, the ep shows a growing maturity in Dhipitas artistry. The fact that Gormen is no longer singing about negros, homosexuals or estranged children is actually quite welcoming and a nice surprise. Swapping those controversial themes for heartbreak, religion and mind control seems to be a step towards the right path for the 24 year old hitmaker. Sonically, the 4 track record is immensely more diverse and strong than its predecessors. Gone are the fun, catchy country crossover beats. This is Dhipita doing indie rock.
Gormens vocals shine on each of the tracks, also showing growth in her ability as a serious powerhouse vocalist. Putting her naysayers to sleep, she truly gives amazing performance on every single one of the tracks.
The opening track, Holy How, is provably most like the stars previous work. A chart friendly hip-hop beat sets the tone for a pro-jesus rap song. Gormens ability as a rapper as often been doubted, but the final breakdown in the first track (in which Gormen subtly disses Eminem and Katy perry) prove that she's just as good of a rapper as anybody else on the mc scene.
Temptation, perhaps the EPs most controversial offering, deals with the amazingly mysterious storytelling of a woman who has had an affair with her partners son. It isn't just any partner, however. No. That's too simple. Its God. The track is a nice departure from anything the superstar has ever given us. Its indie rock beat, and its gravelly yet nonchalantly raspy vocals really bring the song to life.
The third tracks which is also the title track, Brainwashed, is perhaps the darkest Gormen has ever released. Playing the role of a mind control victim, Gormen moans and wails along to the rock-pseudo-nuance backing track.
The final track, and Gormen current single is Life of a Queen. Most people would've already heard the song featured in Disneys latest Blockbuster Maleficent, yet here alongside the other tracks it feels more real somehow hauntingly beautiful. The EPs best track, yet also its moodiest.
Overall the extended play is a game changer for not only Dhipita, but also for her music contemporaries. Laying to rest the rumors that she can't sing, I predict big things ahead of this for the all too often judged pop princess.""
