She's technically not a disney star, she only did one little TV movie for them.
And its completely understandable that Alexz doesn't know who she is cause she isn't that popular yet but she's gonna blow up soon.
Basically she's an actress who got her breakthrough in the critically acclaimed movie 'Akeelah and the Bee'.
She became the youngest actress to win an Image award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in the movie and she also got countless awards and nominations and praise for her role in the movie. She even appeared on Oprah.
She went on to do other movies including one for disney channel and most recently she played Jasmine Plummer (the first female to play pop warner football) in the movie 'The Longshots'.
She released her debut album under Atlantic Records last year and she sites Brandy as one of her main influences but the album flopped cause her label refused to promote her unless she sexed up her image which she refused.
Now she stars in her very own sitcom 'True Jackson, VP' on Nickelodeon and it just broke records for the network.
And unlike most child actors turned singers she can actually sing (she started singing in her church choir) and she's about to give Miley a run for her money!
She started off as a movie star.
