News: 20+ people stuck in rollercoaster @ Six Flags

Initial information indicted as many as 30 passengers were on the ride at the time of the accident. That number was later downgraded to 22.

Multiple cars holding riders appeared to be stuck at an angle in an area where the tracks pass under trees, aerial video from the scene showed.

“We were riding on the Jet Stream when we saw the Ninja go into the trees,” witness Brandy Chambers said. “It was a lot of leaf noise and then cracking noises … and a lot of screaming,” she said.

The situation was caused by a tree branch that fell on the track and obstructed the train, according to Magic Mountain spokeswoman Sue Carpenter.

“It looked like a pine tree fell and it fell across the track of the Ninja ride,” said L.A. County Fire Inspector Rick Flores. “The car came around the corner and it hit the tree,” he said.

The impact caused the first car to detail, Flores said. It was the passengers in the first car that suffered injuries.

Firefighters appeared to be cutting at or struggling with foliage near the large white pillars that support the ride.

Just before 8 p.m. rescuers began bringing the stranded riders to the ground, aerial video showed.

All of the passengers were said to be alert and talking with park personnel during the evacuation process, Carpenter said.

The two injured riders were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, Carpenter said.

One of the riders complained of neck pain, the second reported a knee injury, fire officials said.

The ride would remain closed until a “thorough inspection of the area is complete,” Carpenter said.

The ride is described as a “stealth assassin” and “suspended swinging roller coaster” on the Six Flags website.

“Shoulder harnesses secure you in place but don’t expect to just sit in one place—you’re going to be swinging all over, a full 90 degrees each way,” the site’s description reads.

The funny thing is.. I go to this Six Flags YEARLY and each time there's always a delay in the Ninja ride because it gets stuck randomly. (Like it gets stuck right before it comes back to the original point.) I'm surprised it took this long for it to finally crash in the middle of the ride and injure people.

Im gonna go to Six Flags again soon now because I think this is an opportunity to hog the park all to myself since people lost some sense of security in Six Flags

Alright, I've in SCV, where Six Flags is located, for 17 of the 20 years I've been alive. Accidents like this RARELY happen. So don't act like Six Flags is some dangerous place. Again, this type of stuff rarely happens. It's the first incident I've heard of in the 17 years I've lived here.

Have you every played Roller Coaster Tycoon on the computer?

This is a suspended roller coaster, the cars are like this:

It wouldn't be ideal to be trapped in them, but the cars aren't too far off the ground and they're pretty comfortable. Not the worst ride to get stuck on at all.

I used to work at the Six Flags this happened at. It doesn't happen often, but all rides do have some type of way to get off if it stalls.

I just went to Magic Mountain last month. I went on this ride before the first time I've went.

Everyone I know makes fun of Ninja being the lamest ride because it's not "fast" enough or thrill-like enough......well, here goes this.....
