Tori Amos reveals “Promise,” the second single from her critically acclaimed new studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines. “Promise” is an emotive ballad that deals in the deeply complex relationships that exist between mother and daughter. Tori dueted on the track with her own daughter, Tash.
What?! This was chosen over Wedding Day and 16 Shades of Blue?! It's a beautiful song, but as Promiscuous said, Tash's voice far outshine's Tori's on this track. It just sounds off how Tori has her vocals double layered to make it sound less thin. I like it, but definitely not single material imo
While I have fallen out of love with Tori a decade ago, I still recommend every gay teenager her solo debut "Little Earthquakes".
The new album did nothing for me (sadly), but I am always happy to see her still going, releasing music, selling out shows on her tour. Well done, Tori
And I am sure many young gay men here would be suprised that this woman they have probably never heard of before is for sure in their faves record collection.

I know! Tori is a legend. I think this woman deserves much more credit for her flawless discography. I dare to say she's one of the best, most clever, songwriters ever. Her lyrics are deep, intriguing and open to interpretation. She sings about 'big topics' (gay rights, sexual abuse, rape) in a very subtle way. Not cliché (aka 'Born This Way', e.g.). I respect her for that.
My favourite Tori album must be either 'From The Choirgirl Hotel' or 'Scarlet's Walk'. I can't chose. It's chocolate and vanilla. They go very well together.

My fall-out with Tori stated after Scarlet's Walk. The Beekeeper was an atrocity. Good God, I still remember the horrible interviews and her Britney bash during the ADP era. But before that she was such a force. You know, I still remember those days when all music press was highly anticipating a new record. Her B-sides are brilliant, too.
I think my favourite albums will always remain her first four and SLG.
^ I like 'The Beekeeper'. I agree it's not on of her strongest efforts, but I it has some real gems on it. 'The Power Of Orange Knickers', 'Parasol', 'General Joy' and of course 'Sleeps With Butterflies'.
The album's very soft though, for Tori's standards. Quite happy. Breezy. It lacks edge.

It's pretty corny, actually. And her covers are incredible. So many great moments I had with her music. It was truly a different way of experiencing music with her early works.

Her haunting cover version of 'Enjoy The Silence' gives me goosebumps every time.
It just leaves me speechless. Same for 'Me and A Gun'

So true. Scarlet Walk is her magnum opus, in my opinion. Her last good record too. I hate the entirety of "The Beekeeper" sans "Parasol" and a couple other tracks.
