Luis Suarez’s World Cup may be over for biting another player, but some in Brazil can’t seem to get enough of the toothy footballer.
An Adidas ad campaign featuring the Uruguayan striker baring his teeth is attracting all sorts of unwanted attention on Copacabana Beach in Rio, where tourists are eagerly lining up to take photos of Suarez “biting” them from an enormous poster.
On Thursday football’s governing body FIFA announced a four-month suspension against Suarez after reviewing footage of the bite on Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder. That includes both his international and professional career, but does not stop a possible transfer away from his club should Liverpool choose to sell him.
Adidas has said it’s pulling the promotional material featuring that image but will continue its sponsorship deal with the diminutive player.
