Teen Idolizes Lanza and Columbine Killers, Mocks Boston

WASECA, Minn. — A teen whose elaborate plot to kill his family and bomb his high school was foiled says he wanted to kill more people than died at Sandy Hook Elementary School, recordings released Tuesday reveal.
But John David LaDue, 17, told police he believed it was more honorable to kill kids his own age. Adam Lanza was 20 when fatally shot 20 children, six adults and himself at the school in Newtown, Conn., 18 months ago.
"I didn't want to be known as a guy who would go to a place with a bunch of kindergartners," he told police. But he also said he expected a fate similar to Lanza's.
"I didn't have plans of living past that day," LaDue said.
LaDue said he idolized Eric Harris, one of the Columbine High gunmen who killed 13 people at the Colorado school before killing themselves in 1999. And LaDue called the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing death total -- 3 -- was "pretty lame."

... After his arrest, police say, LaDue told them the plot was written down in a notebook and kept in a locked guitar case in his room. LaDue also said he had an assault rifle, a number of handguns and 400 rounds of ammunition in a gun safe that was also in his room. Search warrants were issued, and police recovered seven firearms, ammunition and three functional bombs from LaDue's home, along with black clothing and a ski mask.
