Canadian indie-pop singers Tegan and Sara Quin have shared their coming out experiences in an episode of new online doco series “It Got Better”. The 33-year-olds recalled their teenage years spent during the 1990s when lesbian and bisexual musicians like Ani DiFranco, Melissa Etheridge and KD Lang resonated with them.
“I remember thinking that KD Lang was kind of like my role model for sexuality because she got to be androgynous and cool, but also very beautiful and she got the girl,” Tegan said. “We knew adults who were gay.
It wasn’t completely groundbreaking to us that someone could be gay, but to be a teenager and be gay… we didn’t really know any,” sara said.
