Galaxy 2. 64 is great because of nostalgia but it's really not that content packed.
The 3D Land/World games are so disappointing.

Actually, Super Mario 64 is quite basic, it's only feature was being in 3D. The level designs were hideous.

the "Super Mario" and "Super Mario World" are two sub-series.
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario World.
Super Mario Land.
Super Mario.
are the 4 main series.

Classic 2D Mario goes:
SMB3 = World > SMB > SMB (Lost Levels) >>> SMB2
3D Mario is:
Galaxy 1 > Galaxy 2 > 3D World > 64 > Sunshine > 3D Land
There are no bad games though.

The American Super Mario Bros 2 is pretty bad.

Out of the ones I've played, probably Galaxy or Galaxy 2.
