In a very fantastical show, Sansa may be the character who most grounds it in reality. She represents the ideas with which many of us grew up. And that’s terrific. Otherwise, Game of Thrones would just be a show about women with dragons and sexy, superhuman willpower (or, at least, pluck). And it’s her, certainly more than any of the other characters, that make me fully believe that, yes, George R.R. Martin is a feminist.

Yes what I like about GoT is that although it's set in medieval Europe and women are not fully equal (like a younger boy is heir despite having an older sister) but he portrays all of them as very strong. They all make the best of their circumstances and really know how to play the game.

Yes he has a lot of very strong women characters most of whom are smarter than the men despite not being treated equally. Also I heard the books aren't as sexualised as the show either.

He certainly strives to create complex, independent female leaders in his books so I guess you could say so.

Possibly. Most of his female characters stand out. Daenerys, Melissandre, Cersei, Sansa, Arya, Brienne...

This part is not true. Thing is, the tv show is a bit crude when showing it sometimes. Rape is a very common topic in the books.
