I hate that society piles itself up on people who show confidence and initiative toward improving their own lives by calling them "arrogant" or "egotistical". What's wrong with taking an active role in our own success and recognising the good we personally bring to the world? I mean, suicide and eating disorders are a huge part of our culture due to low self-confidence. Shouldn't we allow people to build themselves up?

There is nothing wrong with being arrogant if you truly did the work required and made your accomplishments from it. At least imho.

I don't see anything wrong with having a little bit if ego. I mean why can't someone have confidence in their work or something they have accomplished without being called pretentious or arrogant.

Honestly, in my opinion, there's a fine line between confidence and having a huge ego.

People who are egoistic in the right time is pretty much alright but most of the time, people who have huge egos are people who never contributed, do their work wrong or credit themselves to the work of others.

Sometimes I feel like crap when people like this shows up. It eats up your confidence and makes you wanna think bad things to that person.

NO ONE on this earth has accomplished enough in their life to deserve to treat others like they are less important.

Well.. I disagree. Why shouldn't they be prideful if they worked hard and got what their accomplishments? A part of me would show off too.

There is a huge difference between being proud of yourself and having an ego. Hell, I would argue that they are completely different things.

Anyone who has truly accomplished things that matter are probably smart enough to realize the value of every human being, and recognize that in the grand scheme of thing we are all in this together.

The only people I have met in life with real egos were generally irrational ****ers who really have accomplished nothing of significance.

There's a big difference between being confident and having an ego.

My ex-boyfriend had the worst ego ever. Literally, he thought he was above everyone, despite him being thoroughly average looking (nothing wrong with that) and having a fairly common job.

Being confident is being passionate and driven about something, but with a level-head. An ego is thinking you're better than/above everyone else.
