Here in Sweden we generally consider the southern parts to belong to Denmark rather than Sweden (very jokingly of course). Then again the population of the northern parts is like, 2, so...
In Scotland the Central Belt is where all the action is, the North and South are both flops (Especially the North, it's just all mountains and lochs up there).
There's not really a ''South'' here in the Netherlands. I think all provinces are all equally developed, with North Holland (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) slightly ahead. Usually people refer to Flanders (Belgium) as the South here, really.
But I'm from the South so I can't really say this from a northern person's perspective.
