I think we've all been in a place where we've found an amazing B-side on YouTube or something, and just thought to ourself, "OMG, why the hell didn't they put this on the album? " When I think it to myself I always think of "OMG" as the three letters, of course.
Being a Janet stan the only B-sides I really know are Janet's, and there are some that are truly superior to almost anything that made the albums.
"Let Me Know" from Discipline (so much better than the filler from this album; is a bonus track in Japan)
"Love Me" from 20 Y.O. (one of her best ever, prod. by Just Blaze)
"Put Your Hands On" from Damita Jo (like Mariah's "I'm That Chick," but better--the beginning is boring but it gets way better)
"Accept Me" from The Velvet Rope (gorgeous midtempo)
"On and On" from Janet. (an equally beautiful slow jam, but opposite meaning from "Accept Me")
"Has To Be" from ROL is heart-wrenching. I loooove it so much!! Definitely one of my top 5 fave Madonna songs. I also loved "Ring My Bell," "Liquid Love," "Revenge," and "Your Honesty". I also liked all the B-sides from COADF except "Super Pop" was hella stupid (the dog bark soundbyte was a crack-up though).
Eli--I haven't heard any of these Janet B-sides but I'm going to go through and listen to them now. I'm just glad that you didn't include "Whoops Now!" in that list because that's a terrible song.
Surprisingly enough, I don't really care for any of Alanis or Sheryl Crow's B-sides. But I worship everything Liz Phair and PJ Harvey release. They're indie artists so pretty much half their catalogue is demos/B-sides.
Even though everybody hated it, I liked Mariah's "Heat" more than anything else on E=MC˛. "4real4real" was pretty good too.
LOL, I'm listening to "Super Pop," and that really is terrible, but probably fun if you're drunk or something. Which it sounds like she was when she wrote it.
I'm not really into B-sides but some ones I can mention...
Madonna - Fighting Spirit, I really like it sounds so different from the rest of COADF...
Kylie Minogue - Fall For You, why did she left from X...
Alanis Morissette - Break, same, amazing.. even better than some of the songs on FOE
Duffy - Tomorrow, lovely song...
I can definitely see why all these are B-sides except "Love Me"--I have no clue why that was scrapped from 20. Y.O.!
"Put Your Hands On" has a really good groove and could be fun to dance to in a club or party, but aside from the production I think the melody, vocals, and lyrics are severely lacking. It sounds like "SloLove" to me except "SloLove' was actually pretty catchy.
"On and On" (what a perfect title) is semi-catchy but too long and repetitive.

I agree, "Put Your Hands On" is very similar to SloLove, but SL is better than most songs on DJ and that means "Put Your Hands On" is too.
"Love Me" is about a thousand times better than all the filler on 20 Y.O.
"On and On" is very long, yes, but I love it. Very '90s Janet.
What about "Accept Me" and "Let Me Know?" I can see why "Accept Me" is a B-side, but "LMK" should've made the album.
Yeah!! I think i will never forgive P!nk for this song, she should have definitely realised it or at least put it on her album. One of the best songs of all time for sure.
