Loneliness and elderliness are two of the most scariest things to experience in this life. Can't imagine how some people can cope with both at the same time. Such strong souls. I always kept a promise to live near my parents when I grow up and to always visit them. Elderly people should at least rely on their children for some company. It's sad to realize how many people pay dust to their elderly parents.

No i dont care for them, if they're lonely it's becase of decisions they made thru their lives got them to loneliness.

Even if someones partner dies, where are all the friends you "made" or your family?

Those "friends" could've up and left, died, etc., and the family could possibly just be waiting for them to croak so they can collect the insurance.

It's not always that person's fault for being lonely; others could just be inherently assholes.

On topic, though. I...am not sure, honestly. Some choose to be alone, and I say great! If that's what they want. If they didn't choose it, and things just kind of happened that way, it's really unfortunate.

This is so wrong, first of all you have to realize that there are certain people who are very sentimental when it comes to relationships and the pain and grief they suffer from losing a partner isn't just alleviated by making some quick friends. It takes time to get over the loss of someone and your post is just extremely insensitive, especially to someone who is undergoing/has undergone losing a partner. What's more quality>quantity when it comes to friendship, great friendship requires time to develop. How sure are you that this elderly person hasn't lost his/her good friends as well?

Friends may have died and if the person is for example gay, there is no way they will have a family around except for silblings maybe. And they don't have to even live near them.
