Why was the perception that when I asked if Luke Bryan's Play It Again should get a pop mix, people automatically assumed throwing a rapper like Iggy Azelea on the track
Where do people get that idea that Pop Mix = throwing another rapper / singer on the original track?
Do you automatically assume when an artist is getting a "Pop Mix" it means another artist is being added to the track?
Discuss and explain please.
Pop mix to me usually means upbeat, often heavier, drums and in the case of country music, commercial-sounding guitars in the place of the more-country sounding guitars/banjos, as is the case with the pop mixes of Florida Georgia Line's songs.
A new star isn't always necessary but is helpful when the original artist hasn't had a pop hit previously, especially as it's more difficult to get pop airplay these days.
