Getting released on VOD and in limited theaters (for like one week) on the same day is common for indies that no one thinks have any theatrical potential. Even Under The Skin, the artiest most esoteric experiment of a movie, got a theatrical release

The future of all small films, honestly. No one wants to go watch movies like this on the big screen anymore, not when Television is getting as good as it is. There's a reason there's so many blockbusters in theatres these days and very few mid-range and low budget movies.

Honestly, you're right to an extent. There's only certain movies I want to see in the theater, not just because I'm a fan but because it's great to see movies with a crowd, big screen, surround sound etc.

Only movies I will see that are considered low budget are the oscar baiting movies or comedy

I'm just happy she's on a dramatic movie that's critically acclaimed. This could mean great things for her career. I want her to pull a Sandra Bullock and surprise everyone suddenly.
