The wig looks amazing in some photos and not flattering in others. I think it depends on the lighting. In the paler candids it doesn't compliment her as much.
The thing is, the wig could actually look flawless (or at least decent) on her, but it needs to be applied and put on the right way. It looks like they're aiming for Donna Summer and landing on Gene Shalit with that wig.
