Who has "rights" to make music videos? Artist or label?
I just am curious because...
Britney Spears has barely done anything with her latest album. Work B!tch and Perfume. Has barely put any effort into her career. Why isn't she trying to make an era out of it? She could have at least two more music videos, maybe even five. No promotion besides Las Vegas.
Yet, here is Lily Allen who is an indie artist in my eyes and isn't even close to Britney's fame level and recognition, because radios don't play her music, but she is able to release and promote videos with:
Hard Out Here
Sheezus
Air Balloon
Our Time
Somewhere We Only Know
And let's not get into Beyonce. She released a music video for every single from B'Day.
Is it the label's fault or the artists fault? Like if Britney Spears wants to release a new single, does it have to go through her label first? Or does the label come to her and say, "Hey we want Till It's Gone to be the next official single, and this is a great idea and concept we have for a music video."
I love Britney, but come on, she's not doing anything with her career or this album. She's rich and has money, I don't see why she isn't even trying or releasing new promotion. Unless this wasn't her album. Maybe her label forced her to make it or something. Femme Fatale had four music videos:
Hold It Against Me
Till The World Ends
I Wanna Go
Criminal
